We had a Trunk or Treat at my little guy’s school last Sunday. Thanks to Pinterest I was able to get some ideas for what to do with our trunk – I love My Pinterest!

I decided upon the theme I wanted to use, something relatively easy, and found two pictures for my inspiration – These are the two pictures and the blogs they came from…

Here is what you are going to need for my version –

Trunk or Treat – Open Mouth with Tongue

3 large white poster boards
2 boxes of cereal
1 black trash bag
1 black vinyl table cover
1 red roll of wrapping paper
Supplies

I cut each poster board vertically making 6 pieces. Two pieces for each row of teeth and one piece cut in half for the eyes – leaving one extra. I cut the garbage bag in half and used each half to cover the cereal boxes. I taped the eye cutouts, which can be cut in any shape you want, to the covered cereal boxes. The red wrapping paper is rounded at the tip to make it look like a tongue. For the “throat” I used the black vinyl tablecloth, which you could always use more trash bags instead and clear box tape to adhere it all.

Another hit from Pinterest – I love it!

FABRIC/VELVET PUMPKIN TUTORIAL

by Kim Foren of Geranium Lake

SUPPLIES:
– Velvet Fabric
– Needle & Thread
– Scissors
– Dried Beans (ex: Lentils) for Fill
– Gourd Stem(s)
– Hot Glue Gun & Glue

DIY Tutorial: Festive Velvet Fabric Pumpkins

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
First assemble your supplies and make note of the gourd size you will be using. You’ll want to make your fabric pumkin to scale.

Begin by cutting your fabric into a circle. We love the look of velvet but we also used satin to create some variety.

Hint: The diameter of your circle determines the size of your pumpkin so gauge approximately for the size of your gourd.

Next, create a simple basting stitch around the perimeter of your pumpkin.

Once, you gone a bit, you can begin tugging on the needle and thread start cinching your fabric.

Once you have stitched and cinched the entire perimeter fill with the pumpkin with dried beans.

These are darling and have that perfect amount of elegance.  I absolutely love them and I am determined to find time to make these happen this year.

Wish me luck!
