Posted Why Didn't I Think Of That?
inThis is brilliant!
When I came across this it grabbed me. It is SO clever. I love it.
I think I immediately loved it so much because I knew it was from a mom due to the fact that I picked up the link through a mom entrepreneur site. However, when I researched the website I liked it more and more. Here’s why – What REALLY grabs me is the process of HOW she came up with the idea and I cannot get enough of these stories! It pulls out the dreamer in me and I start wondering if maybe one day one of my little ideas will take off.
I have found, as many of you have, that being a mom makes me short on time for ME. Considering that I lived a life when it was just me and my cat, I am used to lots of time for ME. But when I got married, bought a house, had a child and a big dog, the time for ME – not so much. When this happens time slips through your fingers like sand. So you have to get creative.
I never thought I was all that creative until I became domesticated. With so much to do I am always thinking of how to make it easier, quicker and efficient. Whatever “IT” is, I just want it to be simple. Not complicated. When things are complicated it is almost always a recipe for disaster. So when I come across minds like the mom who made this Hot Iron Holster, she’s like my new idol for the day. She had to think of something to make it easier, simpler and not complicated and in the process she is empowering herself, her family and making money.
She gives me hope.

inI love the award shows. I love it for the red carpet. It’s so fascinating to see the fan-fare of it all. I love the dresses the women wear to these events. The last time I wore a dress anywhere near the magnitude of some of these dresses was my wedding. You know what? It was a lot of work. These women put hard work into their appearance and it doesn’t just start the morning of the show. Not to mention they do it all the time. Whenever I get dressed up like this sometimes the only thing I’m thinking of is when do I get to take off my shoes and bra. Yep – That’s why they get paid the big bucks.
Last night shades of blue were gorgeous! I picked this photo because Amy Adams was my favorite. Even though I like more of a romantic type of style, Amy Adams rocked this – no question. She looked amazing. As for the other three – Kelly Osbourne, Kathy Griffin and Anna Gunn – Wow!
Doesn’t Oprah look amazing? With all of her weight issues throughout the years I love how she landed here with her body image. She is classic Va-Va-Voom and to combine that with the power of Oprah – it’s just amazing! Good for her. You go Mama Oprah!!
Lastly, look at these two – they’re beautiful people – and together they are a show-stopper. I feel like the love they exude is what makes them so beautiful together.
Who were some of your favorites?
Leave me a link so I can see too!

inI am working toward better organization this year. As of this morning this is what the computer desk looked like. Normally the computer desk is clean because I need space to use the computer, but this morning I took everything from the return of my desk and put it right in front of me so I could sort it out.
Here we have –
Coupons that need to be clipped.
Nail art for a post I wanted to do… back in November.
Old Navy coupons that I swear I’m going to use this time.
A holiday gift for my son’s teacher, but because we were all sick with the flu the week before Christmas I didn’t wrap it or give it to her.
A free sandwich coupon. It took me over a year to earn that bad-boy and my God I am going to use it. It expires this Sunday.
Below, is my new friend that is going to help me do all of the above and then some. In this handy-dandy notebook (Blues Clues anyone?) I will attempt to write down an assignment for the day (I seriously just chuckled a bit after typing that last sentence) and then mark them off when I am finished.
I cannot believe I am putting this all in writing. Now I have to do this, I must…
I must be really desperate for a blog post.
Wish me luck!

Posted Why Didn't I Think Of That?
inI did think of this.
When I worked corporate I used to cut the feet off tights because tights offer more support. I also learned that when you cut them just above the ankle or right below the knee they don’t ride up as much than if you cut them mid-calf or mid-thigh – like bicycle shorts. Raise your hand if you tried these under your dress too! Unfortunately, I kept quiet about my little idea because it’s all about the illusion, right? If I had told someone then they would know I wasn’t as smooth as it appeared and my cover would be blown.
One day a co-worker came over after work and after some wine we carried on into the evening talking. At some point during our chatfest she wanted to make herself more comfortable and needed to change. She then told me what she had on and I about fell off the couch. I was so excited I told her I do the same thing.
It was probably during that conversation that Sara Blakely, Founder of Spanx, was taking the buyer from Neiman Marcus into the bathroom to show her exactly what we were talking about on the couch in my living room.
C’est la vie.
I’d like to think that one day I will have my “Spanx” moment. Maybe one of my little ideas, of the many I have collected in my notebook over the years, will actually be something I feel strongly enough to make happen. Until then… I will follow, watch, listen and learn from all those who have come before me and hopefully one day something clicks.
