Catrinka bags and accessories make great gifts! Priced from $8 to $250 there is something for everyone (except the guys – they are working on that) and as an added incentive Catrinka would like you to enjoy 10% off this holiday season. Catrinka is an ethical fashion brand dedicated to investing in women and girls. They design fabulous bags that are all made by women, and a share of the proceeds goes to educating girls in the places where they work. With every purchase you make, you invest in a woman and in a girl who will invest in the next generation – multiplying your impact and helping to break the cycle of poverty. Catrinka invests in women because women invest twice as much of our income in our families as men. And because women’s work is beautiful, and they love to celebrate it.

Last year Catrinka provided over 1,500 days of fair work to women in 11 countries, and supported 129 secondary school girls in 4 countries for a year. This year they’ve already provided almost 3,000 days of fair work to women in 3 countries, and will be directing their proceeds to a pilot program that provides peer mentors to teen girls in Guatemala – a country where 14% of girls start secondary school, 3% graduate, and 1 in 10,000 goes to university.

This year give a gift to the women in your life and at the same time give the gift of a lifetime and support women across the globe!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The The Catrinka Project is a message of hope for employment and education for women and young girls through fashion. This project was started by three friends in New York City – Megan, Amisha and Sumana. Their mission is amazing – it employs and empowers woman to make handbags with local textile traditions from around the world. Then 50% of the profits go towards educating and removing barriers between girls and education, which is one of the most effective ways to reduce poverty. To share this message the below canvas tote will go to a lucky winner and these beautiful women picked a perfect day to do it – Mother’s Day.

In honor of mothers all around the world The Catrinka Project is giving away a canvas tote to a lucky follower – and the rules are easy-peasy – simply leave a comment here then pay a visit to The Catrinka Project Facebook Page and give them a “like.” You will then be able to see all the beautiful handbags come out of this amazing project! The tote above was made for Girl Rising, a girl’s education documentary film and the purpose of this film was to hopefully ignite support to all young girls around the world in their education. The text on the bag says “The Girl From [City] Can Change The World”, this is a reference to each city from each of the girls in the film in each of their native languages (Gujarati, Amharic, Krio, Khmer, French Creole, Spanish, Arabic, etc.) and the bag is stamped with the image of one of those girls with a block print texture.

First and foremost Ellen Degeneres – FANTASTIC job as host!

I LOVED how she worked social media and brought Twitter the most epic selfie of all time, now holding the all-time record for most retweets!

– My best dressed –

Kate Hudson! AH-mazing and it wasn’t only the dress. There was something beautifully eye-catching about her eyes, flawless make-up and perfect hair.

Hands down – home run!

Sandra Bullock – the blue was gorgeous and I can only imagine what it looked like in person. She always looks great and her grace is extraordinary!

Julia Roberts – I didn’t hear much chatter about her dress, but I loved it. I loved how she knew she wasn’t the Belle of the Ball and being that she has settled into a life of children and family, I felt her dress was beautiful and appropriate.

…and although I love, love, love Mr. Matthew McConaughey and his lovely lady Camilla Alves this picture of Jason Sudeikis taking a picture of his lady Olivia Wilde won my heart for bestest couple!

I love the award shows. I love it for the red carpet. It’s so fascinating to see the fan-fare of it all. I love the dresses the women wear to these events. The last time I wore a dress anywhere near the magnitude of some of these dresses was my wedding. You know what? It was a lot of work. These women put hard work into their appearance and it doesn’t just start the morning of the show. Not to mention they do it all the time. Whenever I get dressed up like this sometimes the only thing I’m thinking of is when do I get to take off my shoes and bra. Yep – That’s why they get paid the big bucks.

Last night shades of blue were gorgeous! I picked this photo because Amy Adams was my favorite. Even though I like more of a romantic type of style, Amy Adams rocked this – no question. She looked amazing. As for the other three – Kelly Osbourne, Kathy Griffin and Anna Gunn – Wow!

Doesn’t Oprah look amazing? With all of her weight issues throughout the years I love how she landed here with her body image. She is classic Va-Va-Voom and to combine that with the power of Oprah – it’s just amazing! Good for her. You go Mama Oprah!!

Lastly, look at these two – they’re beautiful people – and together they are a show-stopper. I feel like the love they exude is what makes them so beautiful together.
